This year, as part of the SmartArt 2021 manifestation – “Art and Science Applied: Experience and Vision”, an exhibition will be held from September 10 to 23, 2021 in N.O. Concept Gallery in Belgrade with the grand opening on 10 September at 7 p.m.
As an integral part of the SmartArt manifestation, the exhibition introduces the audience to innovations, potentials and challenges of individual and collaborative practices that aestheticize and enrich our everyday life and living space, but also initiate and offer solutions to current social issues and problems emphasizing position of artists and designers as significant actors in modern-day social trends.
This year’s exhibition presents the works of young authors, who for the most part initiated and realized their ideas within their studies. One of the goals of the exhibition is to provide young authors with space, encouragement and inspiration for their own practices and the realization of ideas that innovate and solve various problems of the contemporary context.
According to the curator of the exhibition, the selected works listen to specific problems and offer solutions that are both a response to the complex context as well as an incentive for further innovation in this field. Some works, with their openness, offer space for participation, for thinking about current and relevant issues of today, and through their language and interactive grammar, while searching for truths, they provide us with artistic encouragement and inspiration for more conscious perceptions, interpretations and predictions. Through the fusion and interaction of art, design, science, digital technology, the authors gave a possible answer, but also initiated a re-examination of the causes and consequences of different thinking and behaviour patterns. They offered works as a possible space and means of understanding, interpreting and shaping life, environment and ourselves – which we could accept as potential factors that will reshape society.
