The Faculty of Applied Arts, University of Arts in Belgrade, is pleased to announce its second international conference SmartArt 2021 – “Art and Science Applied: Experience and Vision”. The main idea behind the conference is to provide an international forum for the exchange of experiences and visions originating in the mutual connection and interaction of applied art and science.
Sponsor of the Conference is the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
This year’s theme of the conference “Art and Science Applied: Experience and Vision” is based on the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary connections between applied art, social sciences & humanities, technical-technological sciences, as well as other applied sciences influencing the development of applied art. The conference focuses on theoretical and practical aspects of mutual connections and experiences between science and fields of applied art: Animation, Architecture, Ceramic Art and Design, Costume Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior & Furniture Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Scenography, Film and TV Production Design, Textile Design, Type Design, Urban Design, and other, including very important collaboration between science and art in the field of Conservation & Restoration.
We cordially invite all the scientists, artists and experts from the mentioned fields to take part at the SmartArt 2021 conference.
AIMS OF THE CONFERENCE
The conference aims at:
- presenting new achievements, research results, theories and ideas within the frame of application of science in the fields of applied art
- outlining the contribution of applied art and artistic practices in various scientific and research processes
- creating a platform for the active exchange of knowledge and experiences and provision of stimulating context for collaborative practices in the fields of applied arts and science
- the introduction of new tendencies, practices, and results stemming from the symbiosis of art and science, into the education system

The registration form includes:
I Paper abstract (1. title of the paper, 2. abstract: between 300 and 500 words, with the clearly stated subject, aim, methods and results of the paper, 3. keywords, 4. basic references)
II Information about the author(s)
Instructions for formatting full papers will be given in the following calls for papers, as well as on the official website of the conference.
Abstracts can be submitted either in English or in Serbian (in Cyrillic).
Conference participants are advised to prepare their presentations in English.
At the conference, each paper will be allotted approximately 20 minutes, including time for discussion.
A maximum of two abstracts may be submitted per presenter (with only one as the first author).

BOOK OF ABSTRACTS AND CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
Book of abstracts (with ISBN number) which are accepted for the conference will be available to all participants during the conference. A selection of peer-reviewed papers will be published in a highly ranked academic publication as Conference Proceedings until the end of 2021.
CONFERENCE FEE
The conference fee is 50 euros per paper accepted (25 euros for PhD candidates – only if a PhD candidate is the first author of the paper).
Conference fee for participants without paper is 25 euros.
Reviewers of the papers of the Conference Proceedings will be exempt from registration fees.
